I Will Praise You

Psalm 86:8-13 8 Among the gods there is none like You, O Lord;
Nor are there any works like Your works.
9 All nations whom You have made
Shall come and worship before You, O Lord,
And shall glorify Your name.
10 For You are great, and do wondrous things;
You alone are God.

11 Teach me Your way, O LORD;
I will walk in Your truth;
Unite my heart to fear Your name.
12 I will praise You, O Lord my God, with all my heart,
And I will glorify Your name forevermore.
13 For great is Your mercy toward me,
And You have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol.

Sometimes it’s just good to take a few moments to glorify the Lord. This passage starts it off perfectly telling him how wonderful He is. Even when we spend time in prayer, do we take the time to adore Him, to tell Him how great He is? To lift Him up, and thank Him just for being God?

As a parent, I love to hear my children tell me that they love me, that they appreciate me, that I mean so much to them. When one of my kids takes a minute to say, “You’re the best, Mom!” it truly makes my day. I don’t think our Heavenly Father is any different. When we stop what we are doing to bring praises to the Lord, I think that must make His day too!

Psalm 22:3 tells us 3But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel. He inhabits our praises. That means that He lives or resides in, He is present in, and He fills our praise. Since He owns the cattle on a thousand hills and the earth is His, pretty sure He can choose to live anywhere He wants. How special that the words of our mouth coming from our heart, become a place that He chooses to dwell.

I challenge you today to take the time to Glorify God. If you don’t know how to praise the Lord, open the Book of Psalms and start reading out loud! He takes His delight in your praise so get started!
