Meet Solo

This sweet little guy is Solomon, otherwise known as Solo.

Here he is with his papa, who also happens to be my cousin, Tim.

Solo goes to an awesome school for amazing kids called The Little Lighthouse.

The Little Light House serves families of children with special needs such as autism, down syndrome, cerebral palsy, and many others in a unique program that offers special education and therapy services. The mission of the Little Light House is “To glorify God by improving the quality of life for children with special needs, their families, and their communities.” The Little Lighthouse has AMAZING teachers & therapists who work with these children on a daily basis. The teachers work with the children preparing them for being mainstreamed into school when they are school age ready. (the children can go to TLLH through their 6th birthday). These professionals take these children & work with them on a daily basis, praying for them, loving them, teaching them!

Awesome right? One more thing, the Little Lighthouse provides these services to Solo and his friends for FREE! That’s right, they charge nothing as a way to help families that may have financial burdens with medical expenses, etc….

This incredible school receives no tuition, and because they are Christian based, they are not eligible for government or United Way funding. The Little Lighthouse is completely funded by donations. Every year the biggest fundraiser they hold is MiniLaps. Each student takes one lap around a track using walkers, wheelchairs or wagons. Their families seek sponsorships to help raise money for their year at school.

Below is an awesome video that Tim made to promote Mini-laps. I’m also attaching the link to last years video just because it was so great!

One more thing, towards the end of this year’s video you see a little boy who just happens to be the son of some friends we met in India about 7 years ago. He too goes to the Little Lighthouse.  Small world right?

Psalm 127:3-4 says 3-5 Don’t you see that children are God’s best gift?
the fruit of the womb his generous legacy?
Like a warrior’s fistful of arrows
are the children of a vigorous youth.
Oh, how blessed are you parents,
with your quivers full of children!

Solo and all his friends are indeed Gods best gifts! Will you support them today?
