Greater is He

Greater is He

1 John 4:1-6 1BELOVED, DO not put faith in every spirit, but prove (test) the spirits to discover whether they proceed from God; for many false prophets have gone forth into the world.  2By this you may know (perceive and recognize) the Spirit of God: every spirit which acknowledges and confesses [the fact] that Jesus Christ (the Messiah) [actually] has become man and has come in the flesh is of God [has God for its source]; 3And every spirit which does not acknowledge and confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh [but would annul, destroy, sever, disunite Him] is not of God [does not proceed from Him]. This [nonconfession] is the [spirit] of the antichrist, [of] which you heard that it was coming, and now it is already in the world.   4Little children, you are of God [you belong to Him] and have [already] defeated and overcome them [the agents of the antichrist], because He Who lives in you is greater (mightier) than he who is in the world.   5They proceed from the world and are of the world; therefore it is out of the world [its whole economy morally considered] that they speak, and the world listens (pays attention) to them. 6We are [children] of God. Whoever is learning to know God [progressively to perceive, recognize, and understand God by observation and experience, and to get an ever-clearer knowledge of Him] listens to us; and he who is not of God does not listen or pay attention to us. By this we know (recognize) the Spirit of Truth and the spirit of error.
He who lives in us is greater than he who is in the world! No matter what we face we have the greater One on the inside of us and He is bigger than anything that might come against us. He is greater than sickness, disease, anxiety, depression, poverty, lack, stress, strife, and we could go on and on….. Sometimes when we are in the midst of a battle it is easy to forget that we don’t actually have to fight. The Greater One lives in us and He has already defeated the enemy. Once we remember that the battle has already been won, that puts us in a greater position to not allow ourselves to be defeated. Philippians 4:13 says 13I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency]. You may have to tell yourself, “I have strength for anything and everything that comes my way! I have the Greater One living on the inside of me, and nothing that comes against me is equal to His power, authority and ability!” Don’t be discouraged, and don’t give up- you are self-sufficient in His sufficiency and you can overcome anything that may come your way today!
