2 Peter 3:3-7 3To begin with, you must know and understand this, that scoffers (mockers) will come in the last days with scoffing, [people who] walk after their own fleshly desires 4And say, Where is the promise of His coming? For since the forefathers fell asleep, all things have continued exactly as they did from the beginning of creation. 5For they willfully overlook and forget this [fact], that the heavens [came into] existence long ago by the word of God, and the earth also which was formed out of water and by means of water, 6Through which the world that then [existed] was deluged with water and perished. 7But by the same word the present heavens and earth have been stored up (reserved) for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly people.
There is something very important I want you to see here. Look at verse 5- the heavens came into existence and the earth was formed by one thing- the Word of God. In Genesis chapter one we read the account of God creating the heavens and the earth. Verse 3 says And God said, Let there be light; and there was light. Verses 6-7 6And God said, Let there be a firmament [the expanse of the sky] in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters [below] from the waters [above]. 7And God made the firmament [the expanse] and separated the waters which were under the expanse from the waters which were above the expanse. And it was so. Verse 9 And God said, Let the waters under the heavens be collected into one place [of standing], and let the dry land appear. And it was so. Verse 11 And God said, Let the earth put forth [tender] vegetation: plants yielding seed and fruit trees yielding fruit whose seed is in itself, each according to its kind, upon the earth. And it was so. I could go on, but I won’t for time sake. What I want you to see is 5 words that are consistent throughout this passage. GOD SAID and IT WAS SO. When God said something it happened just the way He said it. Hebrews 13:8 tells us 8Jesus Christ (the Messiah) is [always] the same, yesterday, today, [yes] and forever (to the ages).
This means the same God who spoke the world into existence is still able to speak today and have it be the way He said it. Maybe today there is something that you know God spoke to you. Maybe it was in your prayer time, maybe it was something you read in the Bible, but there is a promise that you know was spoken for you. Be encouraged that if GOD SAID, IT WILL BE SO. Don’t let go of the promise because you haven’t seen it manifest. Don’t get discouraged thinking that maybe you missed it. Hold onto that word, and remind God that if He spoke He has to produce it in your life. When doubt tries to creep in- tell yourself GOD SAID and IT WILL BE SO. When circumstances and situations look bleak, say GOD SAID and IT WILL BE SO. When others around you try to tell you you’re crazy for believing tell them- GOD SAID, IT WILL BE SO. He is God, He changes not and if HE SAID, IT WILL BE SO in your life.
