2 Peter 3:8-9 8Nevertheless, do not let this one fact escape you, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day.9The Lord does not delay and is not tardy or slow about what He promises, according to some people’s conception of slowness, but He is long-suffering (extraordinarily patient) toward you, not desiring that any should perish, but that all should turn to repentance.
Sometimes when we are believing for something to come to pass, we wonder how long it’s going to take. We have to remember that as it says in verse 8 with the Lord one day is as a thousand years and vice versa. We might have a timeline but God’s timeline is more than likely different than ours. In Isaiah 55:8-9 we see 8For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, says the Lord. 9For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts. God’s plans are different than ours, but His ways are perfect, His timing is perfect and if we can trust Him we will see the perfect destiny for our lives unfold. If we will just trust Him we will see our promise turn into our harvest.
I think of the children of Israel. They were leaving Egypt and were being pursued by the Egyptian army. They came to the bank of the Red Sea and the army was closing in on them. The people were freaking out a little bit, asking Moses why he brought them into the desert to die. Then Moses saiExodus 14:13-14 13Moses told the people, Fear not; stand still (firm, confident, undismayed) and see the salvation of the Lord which He will work for you today. For the Egyptians you have seen today you shall never see again. 14The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace and remain at rest. d these words in The Lord then parted the Sea and the Israelites walked across on dry land, and then watched the entire army get swallowed up by the waters. The Israelite people had a promise from God. They were going to be freed from captivity. An obstacle came to try to take them back, to capture them once again. But God showed Himself faithful as He made a way of escape for them. They might not have understood what was getting ready to happen as they looked at the wall of water on one side and an army intent on enslaving them on the other. However, God knew how He was going to show Himself strong. His ways were not their ways, but His ways were perfect. If you are standing today wondering when your promise is going to show up be encouraged. As Moses told the people stand still, firm, confident and undismayed and see the salvation of the Lord. He does not delay and He is never late on what He says. He shows up on time every time and He will come through for you! Take a minute and thank Him right now- for your harvest, for your blessing, for your breakthrough, and for your miracle.
